According to ChemOrbis Import Statistics, Türkiye’s total polymer imports increased by 16% on the month and by 2% on the year to 488,040 tons in February 2024.
In February, the top 5 polymer exporters to Türkiye were the USA (60,168 tons), Saudi Arabia (56,737 tons),
Russia (41,749 tons), Iran (38,812 tons) and Egypt (36,467 tons).
HOMO-PP
Homo-PP imports in February gained 5% on the month but receded by 9.5% on the year to 123,750 tons.
Russia dethroned Saudi Arabia and became Türkiye’s top supplier with 28,643 tons,
followed by Saudi Arabia (21,760 tons), Egypt (20,895 tons), South Korea (9,349 tons) and Spain (5,904 tons).
PP COPOLYMER
For PP copolymer,
Türkiye’s February imports were up by 20% from January to 38,780 tons.
The volume also rose by 19% from February 2023, meanwhile.
Belgium overtook Saudi Arabia’s place and was Türkiye’s top supplier with 6,564 tons,
followed by South Korea (5,699 tons) and Spain (5,666 tons).
LDPE
In February, imports of LDPE increased by 23% on the month and were almost steady on the year to 32,090 tons.
France dethroned Iran and became the top exporter to Türkiye with 4,725 tons,
followed by Spain (4,180 tons) and Iran (3,757 tons).
LLDPE
Imports for LLDPE surged by 22% on a monthly basis but dropped by 6% on a yearly basis to 51,630 tons in February.
The USA remained Türkiye’s top supplier with 18,700 tons.
It was followed by Saudi Arabia (10,918 tons) and Iran (8,094 tons).
Meanwhile,
Türkiye’s February m-LLDPE imports spiked by 56% on the month and 51% on the year to stand at 14,320 tons.
The USA was the top supplier with 6,595 tons for another month,
followed by the United Arab Emirates (2,005 tons) and the Netherlands (1,561 tons).
HDPE
Imports for HDPE in February surged by 20% on the month and by 5% on the year to stand at 103,410 tons.
Iran overtook Saudi Arabia’s
place and was the number one supplier with
25,183 tons, followed by Saudi Arabia (19,568 tons) and Uzbekistan (12,810 tons).
PVC
Türkiye’s February PVC imports soared by 29% on the month and 14.5% on the year to 91,800 tons.
The USA, France and Norway were Türkiye’s top 3 suppliers with 18,806 tons,
16,499 tons and 10,172 tons, respectively.
PS
Türkiye imported 12,100 tons of PS in February, down by 7.5% on a monthly basis.
Nonetheless,
the yearly comparison indicated a notable gain of nearly 35%.
Belgium dethroned Russia and became the number one supplier with 3,944 tons,
followed by Egypt (1,800 tons) and South Korea (1,644 tons).
ABS
ABS imports in February declined by 13% on the month and by 24.5% on the year to stand at 8,830 tons.
South Korea remained the top supplier of Türkiye with 4,372 tons, followed by Belgium (1,390 tons) and Taiwan (722 tons).
EPS
In February, Türkiye’s EPS imports were up by nearly 2.5% on the month but plummeted by 49% on the year to 1,850 tons.
Belgium overtook Russia’s place and became the largest supplier with 457 tons.
It was followed by Austria (408 tons) and Russia (296 tons).
PET
Meanwhile,
Türkiye’s February imports of PET bottle increased by 9% on the month and inched up
by 0.5% on the year to 5,730 tons. China remained the top supplier with 4,034 tons,
followed by Malaysia (690 tons) and Greece (125 tons).
PET textile imports in February decreased by 8% on the month to 3,750 tons.
The figure was also down by 5% year-on-year.
China remained Türkiye’s top supplier with 1,820 tons, followed
by Malaysia (958 tons) and Germany (528 tons).
